UPPER WEST SIDE, NY — Police are searching for the perpetrator that stabbed a 30-year-old man several times on New Year's Day on a downtown 1 train on the Upper West Side, New York City Police Department officials said on Tuesday.

According to the NYPD, the victim was on a downtown 1 train approaching the 110 Street subway station at 9:15 a.m. when a man approached the victim and stabbed him multiple times all over his body with a sharp object.

Then, the perpetrator fled on foot, and the victim was rushed to Mount Sinai Hospital in stable condition with lacerations throughout his body, police said.

There are no arrests yet, but the investigation is ongoing, police said.
