Man Beat With Chair Inside UWS Restaurant, Police Say

The attack took place at La Nueva Victoria restaurant on Broadway and West 95th Street.

UPPER WEST SIDE, NY — The NYPD is attempting to identify two men wanted in connection with an assault that occurred inside an Upper West Side restaurant, police said.

Two unknown men were arguing with a 74-year-old inside La Nueva Victoria restaurant on the night of June 1 when the dispute turned violent, police said. One of the men punched the 74-year-old in the face and the other hit him with a restaurant chair after he was knocked to the ground, police said.

The victim suffered bruising and pain but refused medical attention at the scene, police said.

The men fled the Broadway and West 95th Street restaurant after the attack and have evaded arrest, police said. Police describe the suspect as a man in his late teens standing about 5-foot-10 with a slim build and a man in his 40s with a bald head, black beard, and tattoos on his left forearm and right bicep.

The June attack isn't the first time La Nueva Victoria has been the scene of an attack. Special Anthony Stewart was fatally stabbed outside the restaurant in April 2017. A 29-year-old man named Alexander Clement was arrested in connection with the fatal attack in February 2018 after fleeing to Louisiana.
