Mexican Chain Dos Toros To Open Near Columbia Campus
The fast-casual restaurant offers customizable burritos, tacos, bowls and salads. Dos Toros is expected to open in Fall 2019.

MORNINGSIDE HEIGHTS, NY — Columbia University students will have another affordable dining option near campus when they return to school in the fall.
Mexican fast-casual chain Dos Toros Taqueria has secured a lease for a space on Broadway between West 113th and 114th Streets — about a block south of Columbia's Morningside Heights campus — and plans to open sometime in the fall season, according to a company press release.
The menu at Dos Toros features customizable burritos, burrito bowls, salads, tacos, quesadillas and nachos.

Details about the length and rate of the retail lease were not disclosed. Columbia University is the landlord.
The company, which pits itself as a competitor to other Mexican fast-casual chains like Moe's and Chipotle, has been expanding in New York City since its inaugural restaurant opened in Union Square in 2009. With the addition of Morningside Heights, the company will operate more than 20 locations, including spots in Chicago.

Dos Toros currently operates in New York City neighborhoods such as Brooklyn Heights, The Upper East Side, Williamsburg and has many Midtown locations.
