Muggers Break Bones In Woman's Face On UWS, Police Say

The woman was attacked as she walked by an Upper West Side construction site.

UPPER WEST SIDE, NY — A woman was hospitalized with broken bones in her face after a group of men attacked her near an Upper West Side construction site, police said.

The 57-year-old woman was walking past 200 Amsterdam Ave., near West 69th Street, Thursday night when a group of men approached her from behind, police said. One man punched the woman in the head, knocking her to the ground, while another attempted to snatch her purse, police said.

The woman held onto her purse and the muggers ran away empty-handed, said police.

Two other men were also involved in the attack, but police did not say whether they also assaulted the woman, police said.

Investigators released images of the four suspects (seen above) taken near the crime scene. Police said all the men are likely in their 20s.
