UPPER WEST SIDE, NY — A straphanger was hit in the face and robbed Monday morning on an Upper West Side train, police told Patch.

The subway robber attacked on the a 1 train near the 59th Street Columbus Circle station about 4:30 a.m., police said.

The attacker then grabbed his victim's cellphone then fled the 59th Street station toward Broadway, police said.

The victim was treated at the scene for a minor cut.

Police had not information on the identity of the person who was attacked.
