Blank Street coffee will open soon at 196 Columbus Ave., reported ILoveTheUpperWestSide. Here's what to know.

UPPER WEST SIDE, NY — A coffee company on a meteoric rise in New York City is expanding its presence on the Upper West Side with the opening of a second neighborhood location, ILoveTheUpperWestSide recently reported.
Blank Street will open another outpost after renovating a storefront at 190 Columbus Ave., between West 68th and 69th streets.
There is no confirmed opening day yet, but the company is currently looking welcome customers near the end of May or the beginning of June.

The coffee company that focuses on small storefronts and quick service previously opened an UWS outpost in November 2021 at the corner of West 79th Street and Broadway.
The small-format specialty coffee company born in Brooklyn was founded in 2020 and has already expanded to more than 25 locations across the city.

The rapid growth is made possible in part by a handful of its outposts operating out of mobile coffee carts.
It has also received some serious funding.
In October 2021, Blank Street announced a $25 million investment by General Catalyst and Tiger Global into the company to help its rapid retail expansion.
Blank Street was founded by Vinay Menda and Issam Freiha, who both moved to New York City to attend college at NYU and Columbia.
Upon graduation, the duo co-founded a NY-based venture capital fund called Reshape that oversees $100 million in assets. The pair then turned their attention to coffee, which was a plan they first began considering in college.
Its goal is to open 100 locations throughout New York City by the end of 2022.
"Blank Street was born from the idea that great coffee should not come at a premium," reads the Blank Street website About section. "We’re investing in the right things — better coffee, great baristas, local vendors and better value for our neighbors."
Its menu serves up all types of coffee, baked good, gluten-free options, breakfast tacos, and special seasonal drinks depending on when you visit.
The locations are generally open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and don't have any room for seating.
Patch will update this article when the exact opening date is learned.
