"Thank you for the memories. We will miss you all," reads a sign outside of Broadway Restaurant between 101st and 102nd streets.

UPPER WEST SIDE, NY — A longtime Upper West Side diner has permanently shuttered.

Broadway Restaurant, which has served customers on Broadway between 101st and 102nd streets for 43 years, closed at the beginning of June.

"To our staff and patrons, who have become our friends and family, it has been a privilege and a pleasure sharing all these years with you," reads a sign posted to the diner's storefront. "Thank you for the memories. We will miss you all."

The sign does not specify the reason for the closure, neither does the restaurant's website.

The diner was a no frills establishment best known for its affordable cheeseburgers and omelettes.

It was open every day from 6:30 a.m. to 8 p.m.

The diner's location near the 96th Street and 103rd street subway stations made it a prime location, but it had been blanketed with a sidewalk shed since 2020.

Broadway Restaurant was also located near two other popular diners, Metro Diner and Manhattan Diner, and not far from Tom's Diner closer to Columbia University.

The Upper West Side has overall been able to avoid the string of diner closures seen on the Upper East Side in recent years, and hopefully this will not be the start of a trend.
