Upper West Side Is Getting A Detroit-Style Pizzeria

Straight out of the Motor City, Jet's Pizza is about to open between West 95th and 96th streets. Here's what to know.

UPPER WEST SIDE, NY — For those who don't know, Detroit-style pizza has a rectangular shape, equipped with a light and airy dough, browned cheese, and a thick crust.

There aren't many Motor City pizzerias in New York City, but a new spot is about to open on the Upper West Side that serves up the style of pie.

Jet's Pizza is opening soon at 728 Amsterdam Ave., between West 95th and 96th streets. It will be the restaurant's third location in Manhattan.

The incoming UWS pizza spot has a few other traits that make it unique, such as making its own ranch sauce from scratch and offering "flavorized" crusts, which include butter, romano, poppy seed, sesame seed, garlic, and cajun options.

Outside of the Detroit-style pie, Jet's also offers the following styles: hand-tossed round, thin, New York-style, seasoned cauliflower, and gluten-free.

There are also salads and wings.

Jet's Pizza has locations in 19 states.
