1 Out Of Every 241 Heights Residents Has Died From Coronavirus
Looking at data for Washington Heights' three ZIP codes, one out of every eight and a half residents has been diagnosed with the virus.

WASHINGTON HEIGHTS, NY — One out of every 241 residents in Washington Heights has died from the coronavirus, according to data from the city.
Of the 165,534 people that live within the 10032, 10033, and 10040 ZIP codes in the Heights, the city says 686 neighbors have passed away from the coronavirus.
In terms of caseload, one out of every 8.67 Washington Heights residents has been diagnosed with the coronavirus since the pandemic began in 2020.

- Cases: 6,757 — One out of every nine residents
- Deaths: 275 — One out of every 229 residents
- Vaccinated: 38,055 vaccinated, 34,555 fully vaccinated
- Case Rate: 10,716 per 100,000 (Higher than Manhattan's case rate of 8,878, but lower than NYC's case rate of 11,947)
- Death Rate: 436 per 100,000 (Higher than Manhattan's death rate of 279 and higher than NYC's death rate of 403.)
- Vaccination Rate: 60.36 percent (Lower than Manhattan's vaccination rate of 73.34 percent and lower than NYC's vaccination rate of 61.83 percent.)
10033: Washington Heights
- Population: 58,517
- Cases: 6,266 — One out of every nine residents
- Deaths: 188 — One out of every 311 residents
- Vaccinated: 34,046 vaccinated, 31,107 fully vaccinated

- Case Rate: 11,627 per 100,000 (Higher than Manhattan's case rate of 8,878, but lower than NYC's case rate of 11,947)
- Death Rate: 507 per 100,000 (Higher than Manhattan's death rate of 279 and higher than NYC's death rate of 403.)
- Vaccination Rate: 59.24 percent (Lower than Manhattan's vaccination rate of 73.34 percent and lower than NYC's vaccination rate of 61.83 percent.)
The 10040 ZIP code, which routinely registered near the highest coronavirus rates over the past year and a half, had both the highest case rate and death rate in Washington Heights.

With the spread of the delta variant, virus rates are ticking back up throughout the city, including in Upper Manhattan, where all three of the Washington Heights ZIP codes are between 2.13 and 2.19 percent positivity over the past week.
However, unlike earlier in the pandemic, higher infection rates are being seen in the lower portion of Manhattan.
