2 Fires Break Out In Wash Heights, Including In E-Bike Store: FDNY
Separate fires ignited in Washington Heights late Sunday night and early Monday morning, leaving one person hurt, FDNY said.

WASHINGTON HEIGHTS, NY — Separate fires broke out in Washington Heights Sunday night and Monday morning, including in an E-bike store, an FDNY spokesperson told Patch.
The first blaze ignited about 9:30 p.m. inside of an E-bike store at 4126 Broadway, between West 174th and 175th streets, FDNY said.
A total of 120 firefighters battled the blaze, and were able to get it understand control by 10:45 p.m., FDNY said.

There were no injuries, and the cause is being investigated by the fire marshal, FDNY said.
It is far from the first time that an E-bike or electric scooter has been linked to a fire.

In 2022, there were more than 200 fires in New York City caused by the lithium-ion batteries exploding within the devices and causing a blaze.
Earlier this year, four people were badly hurt after a lithium-ion battery fire ignited at 165 Sherman Ave. in Inwood, FDNY said.
The Second Fire
The second fire in Washington Heights broke out about 12:15 a.m. Monday within a building at 564 W. 160th St., FDNY said.
The blaze ignited on the first floor of the six-story building, and also saw 120 firefighters respond to battle it, FDNY said.
The fire was under control by 1:15 a.m., but one firefighter did suffer a minor injury and was taken to Columbia Hospital, FDNY said.
The cause of the blaze is under investigation, FDNY said.
