4 Injured In 2-Alarm Fire In Inwood, FDNY Says

Three of the four injured people were taken to NewYork-Presbyterian Allen Hospital.

INWOOD, NY — Four people were injured, including one firefighter, in a two-alarm fire in Inwood on Monday afternoon, New York City Fire Department officials said.

According to the FDNY, the fire started in a five-story apartment building at 120 Vermilyea Ave., which is between W 204 Street and W 207 Street, at 4:37 p.m. At 4:59 p.m., the FDNY rang a second alarm.

More than 100 firefighters and medics responded to the blaze and got it under control at 6:02 p.m., FDNY officials said.

Authorities said three people were rushed to NewYork-Presbyterian Allen Hospital, and one firefighter with minor injuries refused medical attention at the scene.

New York City Councilmember Carmen De La Rosa, who represents the neighborhood, was on site providing assistance, she said on social media.

Fire marshals are investigating the cause of the fire, authorities said.
