WASHINGTON HEIGHTS, NY - A fire inside a Washington Heights apartment building injured at least seven people Wednesday morning, fire officials said.

The blaze at 52 Arden St. erupted about 7:30 a.m. on the first floor of the six-story building, fire officials said.

Six minor injuries were reported; a seventh individual reported a serious but not life-threatening injury, fire officials said.

Three individuals were transported to area hospitals and four refused medical assistance.

The fire was deemed under control about an hour later, fire officials said.
