70 People Evacuate After Gas Leak In Manhattan, FDNY Says

Officials are working to find the source of the gas leak.

WASHINGTON HEIGHTS, NY — Around 70 people were evacuated from three buildings in Washington Heights on Monday morning after a gas leak was detected, the New York City Fire Department said.

According to the FDNY, the leak was detected first at 10:36 a.m. Monday at 1989, 1993 and 1985 Amsterdam Ave., which are between West 158th Street and West 159th Street.

The FDNY said officials from the fire department, as well as Con Ed, are working to find the source of the gas leak. No injuries have been reported, the FDNY said.
