Big Community Cleanup Set For Washington Heights: What To Know

A local nonprofit is teaming up with Rep. Adriano Espaillat and Comptroller Brad Lander to help clean up a stretch of Washington Heights.

WASHINGTON HEIGHTS, NY — For those looking to do some work in the community this weekend, a major annual neighborhood cleanup is taking place in Washington Heights on Saturday.

The Community League of the Heights — a neighborhood development organization dedicated to Upper Manhattan — joining forces with Rep. Adriano Espaillat and Comptroller Brad Lander to host a cleanup on Broadway between West 155th and 165th streets.

Anybody can come help out, and volunteers will be given clean-up materials and refreshments.

Organizers do ask that you RSVP your attendance, though, which you can do by emailing jtesman@cloth159.org.

The cleanup will last from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and the meeting place will be Ilka Payan Park at West 157th Street and Broadway, across from the 1 train.
