Burglar Repeatedly Steals Mail From Washington Heights Apartments, Police Say

WASHINGTON HEIGHTS, NY — Police were looking Thursday for a man who has broken into two apartment buildings on three occasions and stolen mail and packages in upper Manhattan, New York City Police Department officials said.

According to the NYPD, the man first broke into an apartment building located at 265 Cabrini Blvd. at the corner of 187th Street on March 25 at 1:30 a.m., using an unknown object to open the front door. Once inside, he stole mail from the tenant mailroom, police said.

The next night at 3 a.m., the man returned to the building to steal more mail from the mailroom, police said.

On May 11, at 9:50 p.m., the man broke into an apartment building located at 260 Seaman Ave. between 218th Street and 215th Street, using an unknown object to open the front door, police said. Once inside, he stole mail and packages from the tenant mailroom, police said.

In each incident, the man ran away in an unknown direction, police said.

Police are investigating the crime pattern and have not made any arrests yet, but they have released a surveillance photo of the suspect.
