City Adds $100 COVID Vaccine Incentive To Uptown SOMOS Locations
The mayor just announced he is expanding the $100 incentive to get vaccinated to NYC SOMOS locations, many of which are in Wash Heights.
WASHINGTON HEIGHTS, NY — You now have another way to make $100 if you have not yet received your COVID-19 vaccine.
Mayor Bill de Blasio announced on Tuesday that the city is expanding the $100 incentive for unvaccinated New Yorkers to include those who get the jab at SOMOS Community Care locations — many of which are in Upper Manhattan.
The incentive was previously only available at city-run vaccine sites.

"Now, the way to do this has always been to go out to the people, to focus on the grassroots, to have an equitable, fair distribution of vaccine, to go to the people. And it has been working," de Blasio said during a press conference Tuesday. "And part of why it's been working is we found community-based partners, who were passionate about the work, who had incredible networks, who reached people who spoke their language, who had their trust."
SOMOS prides itself on forging an "intimate and consistent bond" between patient and doctor.

"That is precisely what SOMOS will do by matching patients with doctors and other service providers who are living in their neighborhood; who speak their language; and who are part of their culture," reads a section on SOMOS' website.
As of the end of Tuesday, 82 percent of the city's Hispanic/Latino population have received at least one shot of the COVID vaccine — compared to 88 percent of all NYC adults.
