Dating Site Used To Set Up Washington Heights Robbery: Police

Two men arranged to meet at a Washington Heights apartment on a dating site. Six people ended up ransacking the home.

WASHINGTON HEIGHTS, NY — The NYPD is trying to identify a group of people wanted in connection with a home invasion robbery in Washington Heights, police said.

On the night of Wednesday, Aug. 15, a 32-year-old man agreed to meet at his West 187 Street and Broadway apartment with a man he met on an online dating site, police said. When the resident opened his door, the man he was supposed to meet held the doorway open as five other people rushed into the home, police said.

The group ransacked the apartment and assaulted the resident, police said. During the home invasion, $400 in cash, a credit card, headphones and an MTA Metrocard were stolen, police said.

The victim refused medical attention at the scene, police said.
