Dogs Are Dying Outside Of A Washington Heights Building
A sign recently went up outside of 105-115 Cabrini Blvd. warning dog walkers about rat poison pellets in the immediate area.

WASHINGTON HEIGHTS, NY — Multiple dogs have recently died outside of a Washington Heights building, according to a sign posted by a property manager and first reported on by the New York Post.
In recent days, three dogs have died after walking outside of 105-115 Cabrini Blvd, which is near West 184th Street.
The likely cause? Rat poisoning.

"Dog walkers beware!!! Warning!!! reads an email sent to residents and posted outside of the building that Patch was able to view on a community Facebook group. "3 dogs have died after walking here! Suspected rat poison has been placed here. Do not let your dogs near the building and make sure to wash their paws if you walked them there."
Rat poison is toxic to dogs and children, and if ingested requires immediate medical attention. It can shut down organs, cause internal bleeding, and result in death.

“It was a very sad thing that happened [to Cali],” Ralph Edwards, an owner of one of the dogs who died after walking past the Washington Heights building, told the New York Post. “Now it’s about raising awareness and this is a neighborhoods where dog owners are looking out for each other.
Cholecalciferol rat poison pellets has been a longtime danger to dogs in New York City, but is typically placed on the streets in secure bait station and shouldn't be left out in the open.
