Duo Snatching Necklaces From Women In Wash Heights And The Bronx: PD

WASHINGTON HEIGHTS, NY — Men are walking up to women in Washington Heights and the Bronx and forcibly snatching their necklaces, police said over the weekend.

A Washington Heights robbery happened around 4 p.m. on Jan. 30 near West 188th Street and Wadsworth Avenue, when two men approached a 31-year-old woman and grabbed a gold necklace from her neck, police said.

The necklace was valued at $800, police said.

The two men fled the scene, and there were no injuries reported, police said.

Earlier in January, around 5 p.m. on Jan. 20, a 44-year-old woman was walking near Creston Avenue and East Fordham Road in the Bronx, when a man walked up to her and punched her in the face, police said.

He then snatched two Cuban necklaces from her neck and ran away, police said.

The necklaces were valued at $4,400, police said.

The woman refused medical attention at the scene.

NYPD, who released the first photo of the two suspects on Saturday, described the men as in their twenties with a medium build.
