Firefighter Beat Girlfriend In Front Of Kids In Inwood Home: NYPD

INWOOD, NY — An FDNY firefighter is facing assault charges for beating his girlfriend in front of her children in the woman's Inwood home, police and prosecutors said.

Brian Chevalier, 30, turned himself in at the NYPD's 34th Precinct station on Wednesday night and was hit with charges of misdemeanor third-degree assault, aggravated harassment and endangering the welfare of a child, according to a criminal complaint.

The firefighter is accuse of throwing his girlfriend down to the ground and stomping on her head on Sunday night in her apartment on Dyckman Street, the criminal complaint says. The woman's two young daughters were in the home when the assault occurred, according to the complaint.

The woman suffered a bleeding laceration to her head and substantial pain during the attack, according to the criminal complaint.

Chevalier was arraigned on Wednesday and is being held on $2,000 bail, a spokesperson for the Manhattan district attorney's office said. He is due in court again on June 19, prosecutors said.
