Fleeing Driver Slams Into, Injures NYPD Cop In Inwood, Police Say

An officer was trying to make a traffic stop when the driver fled, hitting the cop in the process and causing minor injuries, police said.

INWOOD, NY — A cop was injured by a driver fleeing a traffic stop in Inwood Sunday, police said.

An NYPD officer tried to pull over the driver about 9:05 p.m. on Vermilyea Avenue between 204th and 207th streets for an unknown "violation" when the driver rammed into the officer, according to the NYPD.

The officer fell down and the driver fled — there were no arrests made Monday, police said.

The NYPD officer had only minor injuries after the scuffle, authorities said.
