Free Jazz Will Take Place Every Week In Uptown Plaza: What To Know
Jazz Wednesdays will take place every week throughout the summer within Quisqueya Plaza.
WASHINGTON HEIGHTS, NY — A free jazz performance will take place every week in Upper Manhattan throughout the summer.
Jazz Wednesdays will happen each Wednesday from 5 to 7:30 p.m. in Quisqueya Plaza at 224-238 Dyckman Street.
A changing assortment of professional jazz musicians will play each week, with optional dining and drinks available at the many restaurants with outdoor seating within Quisqueya Plaza.

If it ends up raining, the musicians will play at Dyckman Bar at 221 Dyckman St.
The uptown plaza was officially dubbed Quisqueya Plaza in February 2023.

Quisqueya is one of the names in the Taino language for the island that is now Haiti and the Dominican Republic.
During the unveiling of the new name, there was also a promise of an unspecified reconstruction of the plaza as well as pedestrian safety and bike lane enhancements.
Before its new name, the public space was officially called Dyckman Plaza.
It had been temporarily called Quisqueya Plaza in the summer of 2021, before switching back to Dyckman Plaza that fall, and again returning to Quisqueya Plaza.
The plaza hosts more than seven restaurants in the space.
