Harlem Teen ID’d In Fatal Wash Heights Scooter Crash

The scooter-riding teen struck an SUV on 185th Street about 1:30 p.m., Thursday, police said. He was pronounced dead at a nearby hospital.

WASHINGTON HEIGHTS, NY - Authorities have identified the scooter-mounted 15-year-old who died after a crash with an SUV in Washington Heights Thursday.

Reudolfo Filpo-Encarnacion, of Harlem, was driving southbound on St. Nicholas Avenue about 1:30 p.m. when he struck a 2023 GMC Yukon traveling eastbound on 185th Street, police said.

Filpo-Encarnacion was ejected onto the roadway as a result of the crash, police said.

Medics rushed him to Harlem Hospital for head trauma treatment, but he couldn’t be saved.

The 43-year-old driver of the Yukon remained at scene, police said.

No arrests have been announced as of Friday afternoon. An investigation is ongoing.
