'In The Heights' Murals Unveiled At Washington Heights Hospital
Lin-Manuel Miranda helped unveil two new murals Tuesday within the NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital in Upper Manhattan.

WASHINGTON HEIGHTS, NY — A pair of new "In the Heights" murals were unveiled Tuesday at a Washington Heights hospital by none other than the show's creator and star Lin-Manuel Miranda.
The "In the Heights" murals were unveiled at the NewYork-Presbyterian/Columbia University Irving Medical Center near West 168th Street in Upper Manhattan.
The ceremony included Miranda, the artist of the murals and uptown resident Danny Peguero, and Dr. Laureen Hill, the chief operating officer of the hospital.

"The fact that it’s a hospital is not lost on me – we celebrate some of our biggest and most emotional moments here, so the fact that ‘In the Heights’ will be part of the lives of new births and visiting loved ones is really special," Miranda said during the ceremony.
The murals are meant to be a "token of appreciation" to healthcare workers and their commitment to Washington Height and Inwood communities during the COVID-19 pandemic.

“The inspiration came largely from my neighborhood and the people in it," Peguero, who creates large-scale murals, said during the ceremony.
"In the Heights" shot back into prominence last year with the release of the film adaptation.
