Here's Where The COVID Rate In Washington Heights Stands

The COVID-19 case rate in Washington Heights and throughout Upper Manhattan has decreased greatly since September. Here are the numbers.

WASHINGTON HEIGHTS, NY — The rate of COVID-19 cases in Washington Heights has fallen below 1 percent, according to city data.

From Oct. 26-Nov. 1, the seven-day positivity rate in the 10032 zip code was 0.54 percent, while the 10033 zip code saw a 0.8 percent positivity rate.

Those rates are based on over 1,800 COVID-19 tests completed in each zip code. Only 10 positive tests came back in the 10032 zip code, while 10033 had 15.

The numbers show a decrease in coronavirus cases in Upper Manhattan, as around two months ago nearby zip codes 10034 and 10040 had positivity rates nearing 4 percent.

Hospitalizations, too, are far below where they were at the height of the coronavirus pandemic.

From Sept. 24 to Oct. 21 — the most recent data available — the 10032 zip code had 18 hospitalizations, while 11 were hospitalized in the 10033 zip code.
