Inwood Bus Driver Attacked In What MTA CEO Calls 'Disheartening' Trend
Someone shattered the window of a BX20 bus Tuesday night and the driver took a piece of glass to the eye, city officials said.

INWOOD, NEW YORK — An object hurled through the window of an MTA bus in Inwood Tuesday night left the driver hospitalized and the head of MTA stunned, according to city officials.
The attacker jumped out of a black sedan and shattered the Bx20 bus window near Sherman and 10th avenues about 5:45 p.m. Tuesday, police said.
The driver took a piece of glass to the eye and was rushed to New York-Presbyterian Allen Hospital in stable condition, according to the NYPD.

The black sedan sped away and no arrests had been made as of Wednesday morning, police said.
WNYC host and Inwood resident Brian Lehrer discussed the incident on his eponymous show Wednesday morning with MTA CEO Janno Lieber.

"Bus drivers have no cops riding along," Lehrer noted. He offered, "A nod to the work of the bus drivers….who carry us where we need to go."
"It's really disheartening," added Lieber. "We're having a serious problem with people attacking our workers."
