Inwood Film Festival Lineup Announced: A Smattering Of Local Tales
Film subjects include the last movie theater in Washington Heights, the Tubby Hook Boathouse, and sex and identity in Dominican culture.

UPPER MANHATTAN, NY — The Inwood Film Festival lineup was recently announced and there are a smattering of local tales that will have extra meaning for Upper Manhattanites.
The sixth rendition of the festival will take place from May 25 to 28 in Inwood, and will feature 27 films, including 17 world premieres, and four commissioned films presented from the IFF Filmmaker Fund.
The Inwood Film Festival celebrates the work of filmmakers with a connection to Upper Manhattan or the northwest Bronx.

Many of the films follow different versions of local tales, including the last movie theater in Washington Heights, a baby pigeon growing up on an uptown fire escape, the literary crisis in the South Bronx, and a high school senior with super powers in Inwood.
There will be programming on all three of the days, such as documentary portraits, feature films, short shorts, long shorts, seminars, and a special screening of the "The Greatest Beer Run Ever," which will include a post-screen conversation with John "Chickie" Donohue — the Inwood native who the film is based on.

There will be an Opening Night Benefit on May 25 with a presentation of the award-winning film, "The Whale," followed by an in-person interview with screenwriter Samuel D. Hunter by Inwood Art Works' Founder and Executive Producer, Aaron Simms.
Ticket passes to the entire festival cost $50, and single tickets cost $15.
