Inwood Gets New Open Street For The Summer: What To Know
The NYC DOT announced 35 additional Open Streets on Monday morning, including one in Inwood.
INWOOD, NY — Summer time in New York City now means the return of Open Streets season, and there will be a new location in Inwood over the next few months.
The New York City Department of Transportation announced on Monday morning 35 additional Open Streets locations across the five boroughs.
The new Open Street in Inwood? West 212th Street from 10th Avenue to Broadway.

The street will be shut down to traffic Monday to Friday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. The community partner helping to run the street is the Shorac Kappock school.
Additionally, Cooper Street from West 207th Street to Isham Street, will also be shut to traffic on Mondays and Tuesdays from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m, and on Fridays from 10 p.m. to 1 p.m., according to the city.

The community partner will be School in the Square.
Here are the other two Open Streets closest to and in Inwood for the summer:
Academy Street
- From Broadway to Vermilyea Avenue.
- Closed to traffic Mondays through Fridays from 8 a.m. to 3:15 p.m.
- Community Partner: Muscota New School
West 196th Street
- From Broadway to Ellwood Street
- Monday through Fridays from 11 a.m. to 3:15 p.m.
- Community Partner: City College Academy of the Arts
The city is hoping to unveil more that 200 Open Streets by the end of the year.
“Vibrant public spaces are good for our good economy, good for public health, and good for our quality of life," Mayor Eric Adams said in a news release. "Thank you to all of our 2023 Open Street partners, and we look forward to working with you for years to come.”
