WASHINGTON HEIGHTS, NY – A 27-year-old man was working at a bodega in Washington Heights at about 8:35 a.m. on Tuesday, when a man walked into the store and asked for an orange juice on credit, a police spokesperson told Patch.

That man, who police say is 66-year-old Luis Hevia, became “irate” and began kicking the security door of the cashier area when the clerk refused.

Hevia, who lives nearby, then brandished a knife and backed the clerk into a corner before removing $500 from the cash register and fleeing the location on foot, officials said.
