Korean Restaurant Opens In Wash Heights: 'Can't Find A Better Spot'

I Love Bibimbap opened Wednesday on St. Nicholas Avenue between West 162nd and 163rd streets. Here's what to know.

WASHINGTON HEIGHTS, NY — A Korean restaurant opened for its first day of service in Washington Heights on Wednesday.

I Love Bibimbap has opened its doors at 1049 St. Nicholas Ave., between West 162nd and 163rd streets.

"We've been here (Washington Heights) for a long period of time, born and raised, couldn't be a better spot to open," Armando, a server at the new restaurant, told Patch.

He added that the eatery also decided to open in the Heights in part due to the lack of Korean cuisine in the neighborhood.

Here is a selection of what I Love Bibimbap serves up.

  • Bibimbap: Rice served with spinach, zucchini, carrot, mushroom, onions, bean sprout, sunny egg, sesame seeds and your choice of beef, pork, chicken or tofu.
  • BBQ Pork: Spicy or not-spicy, served with rice, coleslaw and french fries.
  • Chicken Teriyaki: Marinated chicken breast in sweet teriyaki sauce.
  • Chicken Box: Korean style crispy fried chicken wings glazed with soy, garlic, mild or spicy sauce.
  • Homemade Dumplings: Fried or steams with either beef, vegetable, shrimp, pork, spinach kale, broccoli shrimp, leek, chicken, or kimchi.
  • Ramen: Korean style noodle soup with an egg.
  • Appetizers: Seaweed salad, edamame, chips with guacamole, and spring rolls.
  • Desserts: Fried bananas, flans
  • Drinks: Love Ice Tea, Shirley temple, horchata, juices, sodas.

The restaurant is open Monday to Friday from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., and Saturday to Sunday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.

It also offers take out and delivery.
