WASHINGTON HEIGHTS, NY - Authorities are looking for two men who beat a straphanger with a stick inside a Washington Heights subway station Tuesday night.

The 38-year-old victim was standing on the mezzanine of the 168th Street station about 9:30 p.m. when two men approached him and started striking him with a wooden stick, police said.

When the stick broke, the attackers unsuccessfully tried to stab the victim with the pointed end of the stick, police said.

The individuals then fled the station on foot, police said.

The victim sustained bruising to the body and lacerations to the head as a result of this incident.
