Man Gropes Woman In Harlem Apartment Building: Police

The man followed the woman inside her building's elevator.

HARLEM, NY — The NYPD is trying to identify a man wanted for groping a woman inside her Harlem Apartment Building, police said.

A 28-year-old woman was walking home on Sunday, June 17, when she was followed inside her West 138th Street and Seventh Avenue building by an unknown man, police said. The man hid from her sight while she waited in an elevator lobby and then followed her inside the elevator when it arrived, police said.

As the woman exited the elevator the man grabbed her buttocks and followed her into her hallway, police said. When the man attempted to grab her again, the woman fought him off, police said. The victim was not physically injured, police said.

The man fled down the building's main staircase and out the front door after the attack, police said. He's described as being in his 40s, standing about 5-foot-7 and weighing about 160 pounds, police said.

The suspect was last seen wearing a red baseball hat with "YOLO" written on it, a black t-shirt and blue jeans, police said.
