Man Robbed In Washington Heights J. Hood Wright Park Bathroom: NYPD

The robber place an unknown object into the man's back, before saying it was a gun, police said.

WASHINGTON HEIGHTS, NY — A man trying to go to the bathroom in a Washington Heights park restroom was robbed by a duo that said they had a gun, police said on Tuesday.

A 48-year-old man was inside a restroom within J. Hood Wright Park near West 173rd Street and Haven Avenue about 5:30 p.m. on April 16, when a man came up from behind and placed an unknown object into the man's back, police said.

The robber said it was a gun, before he removed the man's chain and wallet holding $300, police added.

A second person stood in the doorway and acted as a lookout during the robbery, police said.

The duo then ran off south on Fort Washington Avenue, police said.

The man wasn't hurt, police said.

NYPD described the first suspect as in his early 3os, with a slim build and standing around 5 feet, 8 inches tall. The second suspect is also in his early 30s, with a slim build and standing around 6 feet tall, police said.
