Man Shot In The Head And Killed In Washington Heights: NYPD

The uptown shooting unfolded about 7 p.m. Tuesday near West 162nd Street and Broadway, police said.

WASHINGTON HEIGHTS, NY — An Upper Manhattan resident was shot in the head and killed in Washington Heights on Tuesday, police said.

Officers responded to a call about 7 p.m. at West 162nd Street and Broadway, and arrived to find a man with a gunshot wound to the head, police said.

Medics rushed the man to NYC Health and Hospitals, where he was pronounced dead, police said.

The man was later identified as Reda Girgis, 66, who lived in the immediate area, police said.

Girgis was believed to have been an innocent bystander, when he was shot in the head by people firing out of a dark gray SUV, multiple publications reported.

NYPD have not released a description of a suspect.

There are no arrests and the investigation remains ongoing, police said.
