Masked Man Slashes 21-Year-Old Victim On Heights 1 Train: Police

A man was slashed by an unknown assailant as he exited the 1 train on Saturday night, police said.

WASHINGTON HEIGHTS, NY – A 21-year-old man was slashed with a sharp object as he was exiting a northbound 1 train at about 10:30 p.m. on Saturday night, police confirmed.

The victim was riding a northbound 1 train when an unknown man wearing a medical mask boarded the train, police said.

“What are you looking at?” the man asked the victim, according to authorities.

“I’m not looking at anyone,” the victim replied, attempting to avoid eye contact, officials said.

When the victim exited the train at 181st Street, he felt something slice across the back of neck, police said. The victim then fled the location, and after seeing blood, went to an area hospital, where police were notified.

The victim suffered a minor laceration to the back of his neck, police said.

The assailant was described as a Hispanic man, according to an NYPD spokesperson.

No arrests have been made, and an investigation is ongoing.

Saturday’s attack follows similar incidents on the subway in the area in recent months, which include two September stabbings on the A train (near 163rd Street and 207th Street) and an August stabbing on the 1 train near 191st Street.
