Murder Charge After Man Shoots Father In Front Of Kid In Inwood: DA
"The horrific shooting of Tykeem Berry so close to his young daughter shocked the Inwood community," DA Alvin Bragg said.

INWOOD, NY — A man accused of shooting a father in front of his daughter outside of an Inwood bodega was indicted and charged with murder on Thursday, Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg announced.
Joseph Morros, 27, was arrested and charged with murder for the fatal shooting of Tykeem Berry, 30, outside of an Inwood deli at 144 Nagle Ave., the DA's office said.
“The horrific shooting of Tykeem Berry so close to his young daughter shocked the Inwood community,” District Attorney Bragg said in a news release. “As alleged, Joseph Morros opened fire just outside of a busy bodega, putting the lives of his fellow New Yorkers at risk, and killing Mr. Berry."

Around 4 p.m. on Dec. 15, Berry walked into the uptown deli with his 10-year-old daughter, shortly after Morros entered and the two began arguing, Bragg said.
Morros eventually stormed out of the deli and demanded that Berry meet him outside, before he ran back into the business with a pointed gun, police said.

Upon seeing the weapon, Berry, who was still standing inside the store with his daughter, rushed at Morros to push him outside, where Morros fired the weapon and shot him in the chest, the DA said.
Morros fled the scene and Berry was pronounced dead shortly after an a hospital, police said.
Morros was also charged with criminal possession of a weapon.
