INWOOD, NY — Patch has learned that a new charter school is coming to Inwood, according to a spokeswoman for the law firm representing the sellers of the previous property.

The charter school facility will be located at 400 West 219th Street, according to the spokeswoman for Cole Schotz P.C.

The project is under the management of Peter Fine of Bolivar Development, according to permits filed with the city. Fine is an active real estate developer in Upper Manhattan.

Fine bought the property from Van John Realty, who was represented by Cole Schotz in the transaction.

The plan calls for a 104-foot tall building that would have 118,231 square feet of community facility space. There is a one-story family auto repair shop property that has been at the site for the past 40 years, which will be demolished sometime in the future — however, no building demolition permits have currently been filed.

The reveal that a new charter school is coming to Inwood answers what has turned into a bit of a mystery since the original new building permits were filed on Feb. 9, with the only information given that it would be an "educational" property.

The Upper Manhattan address made headlines again recently when it was named the top sale in New York City last week with a $16 million price tag.

The spokeswoman did not specify the name of the charter school, when it would be completed, or if it was affiliated with a charter school network already in New York City.
