Over 100 Firefighters Respond To Blaze In Wash Heights Building: FDNY

A fire broke out Tuesday afternoon within a building at 860 Riverside Dr., near West 159th Street, FDNY said.

WASHINGTON HEIGHTS, NY — A blaze broke out in a Washington Heights building Tuesday afternoon that needed over 100 firefighters to put out, an FDNY spokesperson told Patch.

The fire ignited just after 3 p.m. on the third floor of a residential building at 560 Riverside Dr., near West 159th Street, FDNY said.

The 106 firefighters were able to get the flames under control within the six-story building by 3:49 p.m., FDNY said.

There were no injuries, FDNY added.

The cause of the fire has not been released and it is under investigation.
