Person Hit At 157th Street Uptown Station, Major Delays: MTA

No. 1 trains are delayed in both directions after a person was struck at 157th Street on Friday morning, according to the MTA.

WASHINGTON HEIGHTS, NY — A person was struck Friday morning by a train at Washington Heights's station, spurring major subway delays, the MTA said and NYPD confirmed.

A 39-year-old man was struck by a southbound 1 train about 8:15 a.m. while walking in the tunnels near the West 157th Street station, a police spokesperson told Patch.

No foul play is expected, police added.

He was rushed to a local hospital, where he is expected to survive, police said.

After a period of no 1 train service uptown, the line is now running with extensive delays in both directions, according to the MTA.
