Phony Cops Commit Robberies In Inwood, The Bronx, Police Say
Two men impersonating cops have been flashing fake shields while robbing victims uptown and in the Bronx.

INWOOD, NY — Two men impersonating cops are wanted in connection with three robberies in Upper Manhattan and the Bronx, police said.
The phony cops are linked to three robberies that occurred during the month of November in which they flash fake shields while forcibly taking their victims' belongings, police said. Following all three robberies, the men have fled the scene in a dark-colored sedan, police said.
The first robbery occurred in Inwood on Nov. 24, police said. The two fake cops approached a 32-year-old man outside a bodega on Dyckman Street near Payson Avenue and flashed a shield while snatching a bag containing jewelry, electronics and other personal items, police said.

Two more robberies occurred in the Bronx on Nov. 25 and 29, police said. Both times, the police impersonators flashed bags while snatching personal items including a bag, cell phone and an envelope containing several thousand dollars, police said.
Police described one of the suspects as a man in his 30s or 40s standing about 5-foot-9 and did not have a description for the second suspect. The NYPD released a photo of the first suspect (see above) taken by a security camera during the Inwood robbery.
