INWOOD, NY — A popular MTA employee who worked within an Inwood station for nearly a decade is moving on after landing a promotion.

For the last eight years, Neil Harrigan, 58, has worked as a Transit Cleaner sweeping up food, trash, bottles, and whatever else there might be within the 207th Street A train station in Upper Manhattan.

The announcement was made by Arlene Schulman, who took to a local Facebook page earlier this month to alert her fellow travelers. Harrigan will now become a Supervisor within the MTA, and get placed somewhere within the five boroughs after a training period.

"Our longtime subway cleaner - the fastest, most conscientious, and friendliest subway cleaner is being promoted to supervisor," Schulman wrote. "Tomorrow is his last day."

Schulman also posted video of Harrigan saying farewell to Inwood commuters.

"You embraced me, you believed in me, and you entrusted me with making sure your train was clean and that you were safe — and if you didn't know which train to take — I would always point you in the right direction," Harrigan said.

"If anybody were to ever ask me what the best thing to happen to me on this A train, I would say you guys (Inwood)."
