Shot Fired In Washington Heights Attempted Robbery: Police
A recent attempted gunpoint robbery happened near Edgecombe Avenue and West 163rd Street, police said.
WASHINGTON HEIGHTS, NY — An attempted robbery in Washington Heights ended with one of the would-be muggers squeezing off a gunshot, police said Tuesday.
Two men, 29 and 23, were standing near Edgecombe Avenue and West 163rd Street about 1:20 a.m. on Sept. 22, when three people approached them and flashed a gun, police said.
The robbers went through the two men's pockets, but did not find anything, police said.

The person holding the gun then fired off a shot before the trio fled into Highbridge Park, police said.
There were no reported injuries or taken property, police said.
