INWOOD, NY — A special type of outdoor concert will take place in Inwood on Thursday.

New York-based artist Sirintip will host and perform a "first of its kind solar-powered concert" at Gaelic Field in Inwood Hill Park.

“I believe the key to caring more about the environment is to connect more with it, which is why I chose Inwood Hill Park as the location for this concert,” Sirintip, the Bangkok-born singer, said in a news release.

The release about the concert goes on to mention Inwood's rich history prior to the Columbus era.

The concert's stage will be mechanized exclusively by a solar-powered battery.

There is a history of solar-powered stages already existing, most notably the solar stage at the popular music festival Outside Lands, which has run since 2012.

The entire Outside Lands festival, though, is not powered through solar energy.

The upcoming performances were made possible through a grant from the Lower Manhattan Cultural Council.

The first set will take place from 4 to 5 p.m., and the second set will take place from 6 to 7 p.m.
