Teenager Shot In Highbridge Park, Police Say
The 18-year-old was taken to the hospital after being shot once in the Washington Heights park.

WASHINGTON HEIGHTS, NY — Police are investigating an early Monday morning shooting that left one teenager injured in a Washington Heights park, an NYPD spokeswoman said.
An 18-year-old was shot in the thigh around 1:30 a.m. in Highbridge Park near the basketball courts on West 166th Street, an NYPD spokeswoman said. The victim was found on West 167th Street between Amsterdam and Audubon avenues and taken to Columbia University Medical Center, police said. He is expected to survive his injuries, police said.
The gun used in the shooting was found in front of a building on West 166th Street between Edgecomb and Amsterdam avenues, an NYPD spokeswoman said. The shooter was last seen fleeing west on West 166th Street, police said.

Police do not have a description of the suspect and do not know the shooter's identity, an NYPD spokeswoman said. The investigation into the shooting remains ongoing.
