WASHINGTON HEIGHTS, NY — A chorus founded in Washington Heights is gearing up for their Spring Concert early next month.

The Cornerstone Chorale will have its Spring Concert on May 7 within the Saint Frances Cabrini Chapel at 701 Fort Washington Ave. The show will begin at 5:30 p.m.

The concert will feature William Spencer's "At the Round Earth's Imagined Corners," Randal Thompson's "Frostiana," and Bach's "Mache dich, mein Geist, bereit."

The Cornerstone Choral was founded in 1990 by Tom Lloyd at the Cornerstone Center in Washington Heights.

It has served as a group for neighborhood singers, and in 2010 was named the Ensemble in Residence at the historic uptown Holyrood Church.

Richard Stout has served as its musical director since 1996.

In that time it has made its mission to offer high-quality performances at low ticket prices, and provide members of the community an opportunity to perform or contribute to the group.

"The Cornerstone Chorale is a neighborhood community chorus whose purpose is to bring classical choral music performances to the Washington Heights/Inwood area, where such live concert options are rare," reads a statement on the Cornerstone Chorale's website.
