Uptown COVID-19 Rates Remain On Low End Amid Newest NYC Case Jump
COVID positivity rates within Washington Heights and Inwood ZIP Codes are all among the bottom third in New York City, data shows.
WASHINGTON HEIGHTS, NY — As the BA.2 omicron subvariant continues to push COVID-19 numbers up in New York City, ZIP codes in Washington Heights and Inwood remain on the low end of the positivity spectrum, according to the most recently available data from the city.
The COVID rates are still much lower than those seen during the original omicron wave in December and January, but the state's daily test positivity rate reached 3.2 percent on Tuesday, up from 1.6 percent two weeks ago.
While neighborhoods in Manhattan have reached positivity rates as high as 9.26 percent, the rates in Upper Manhattan are all under the 3.2 percent average seen across the state.

Each of the Upper Manhattan areas are currently in the bottom third of all New York City ZIP code positivity rates.
When the original omicron wave hit the city in mid-December, Upper Manhattan areas also remained lower than those downtown. However, the uptown ZIP codes eventually did shoot over 20 percent positivity by the end of the month.
Again, the current highest COVID positive rates are in Lower Manhattan nabes and on the Upper West Side.
