Uptown Got Millions In NYC's 2023 Budget: Here's Where It's Going

With the city budget officially passing on Monday, Patch took a look through where the new funds would be going in Wash Heights and Inwood.

WASHINGTON HEIGHTS, NY — The record-high $101 billion budget passed by the City Council on Monday includes millions of dollars coming to Washington Heights and Inwood.

The local funding includes improvements to schools, housing, and streets in the neighborhood.

The majority of the money secured for the two uptown neighborhoods was sponsored by Council Member Carmen De La Rosa.

A public street space improvement for Yeshiva University is receiving by far the most money out of those in Upper Manhattan — with $6.5 million allocated to the project. No other uptown project received more than $300,000.
