Uptown Pol Secures $11M In Funding For Colleges In Wash Heights
Boricua College and Yeshiva University are two of the colleges receiving funding from the American Rescue Plan.
WASHINGTON HEIGHTS, NY — Rep. Adriano Espaillat announced Friday the colleges in Morningside Heights, Harlem, and Washington Heights receiving millions of dollars in funding from the Biden-Harris Administration's American Rescue Plan.
The funding will help local institutions deal with the financial distress caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, with over half of the funding going to students as emergency financial aid.
“It has been over a year since students and families around the country have had their lives and education upended by the COVID-19 pandemic," said Espaillat, in a news release. “Millions of students had to adapt to a whole new world of learning – teachers, administrators, and school employees alike have worked tirelessly to support our children during this time of great uncertainty – and now it’s our job to ensure that they have the resources they need to reopen their schools safely."
