VIDEO: Cops Let Inwood Street Brawl Break Out, Stand By Watching
Officers are seen standing and watching just feet away as people pummel each other on Dyckman Street.

INWOOD, NY — The NYPD has launched an internal investigation into Uptown police officers after video revealed cops stand idly by and watching as a violent street fight breaks out in Inwood.
Video from the fight, which was first obtained and reported by the New York Post, shows cops standing feet away from a group of men pummeling each other on Dyckman Street. At one point an officer taps a man on the shoulder after he had just punched another in the face repeatedly only to be shrugged off as the fight continues, according to the video.
The fight broke out around 5 a.m. Saturday morning on Dyckman Street near Post Avenue, the Post first reported. Two men, 26-year-old Johnlauds Chevalier and 34-year-old Lewis Medina, were arrested and charged with assault.

But any arrests were likely made several minutes after the brawl began due to police officer's inaction. Cops were already on the scene when the fight erupted, according to the video obtained by the Post.
"We are aware of the incident and it is under internal review," an NYPD spokesman said in a statement.
