Video Shows Mercedes Smash Into Girl In Wash Heights: Report

Surveillance video captured the moment a Mercedes sent a 12-year-old girl flying into the air in Washington Heights, reports show.

WASHINGTON HEIGHTS, NY — A 12-year-old girl critically injured in a Washington Heights crash Thursday was sent flying into the air after a Mercedes rams into her, shows video obtained by the New York Post.

The girl tries to cross Audubon Avenue at West 170th Street about 12:25 p.m. when the 2016 Mercedes Benz comes speeding toward her, according to police and the Post's video.

The 12-year-old walks in front of a van parked in the northbound lane then darts into traffic just as the Mercedes comes zooming into view, the video shows.

The impact sends the girl flying into the air and she falls to the ground some 15-feet from where she was hit, the video shows.

The Mercedes driver, a 40-year-old man, stayed at the seen and was not injured, police said.

The girl was rushed to a nearby hospital in critical condition, police said Thursday.

The NYPD did not immediately respond to Patch's request for an update on the girl's condition.
